Beginer Maple Syrup Conference
October 10, 2019
Thanks to a USDA ACER grant this conference is being offered at a reduced rate and is
designed to offer education to potential producers, backyard hobby producers, and current maple
producers in a six-state upper midwest region. The aim is to increase knowledge of maple syrup
production as a viable non-timber forest product, to increase income from forestlands and assist
producers with the adoption of new technology, etc. Spend the day with local maple syrup producers!

Ag Tourism signs are now available for purchase for $70 for members and $90 for non-members. The signs are 24″ X 48″ and are made from .063 aluminum.
In 2013 Wisconsin Act 269 was amended to limit civil liability for injury to or the death of an individual who is participating in an agricultural tourism activity. The agricultural tourism provider must post and maintain in a clearly visible location at each entrance to the property where the activity takes place or at the location of each activity, a sign that contains the following notice in black lettering, each letter a minimum of one inch in height, on a white background. Limit your liability by posting this sign. The law states that the exemption would not apply if a sign is not posted. See Act 269 for complete verbiage http://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/2013/related/acts/269/_4.
Signs may be purchased from Theresa Baroun (De Pere, 920-983-7469), Leader Midwest (Holcombe, 715-595-4300), Maple Hollow (Merrill, 715-536-7251), Midwest Maple (Athens, 715-560-2222), Roth’s Sugarbush (Cadott, 715-289-3820), Smokey Lake Maple (Hilbert, 920-202-4500), and Sippl’s Sugarbush (Birnamwood, 715-449-3426).
